LADYBIRD BOOKS

Between the years of 1965 and 1974, Ladybird books carried information on the back cover as to how many Ladybird titles were currently available.

From this "tally number", it is possible to calculate approximately in which year a particular book was published .

IMPORTANT NOTES ON PUBLICATION DATES & FIRST EDITION DATA.

Ladybird books frequently did not date publications and rarely stated if a book was a reprint. To make matters even more confusing, many books were reprinted with the original publication or copyright date information. From a combination of factors such as cover type, tally numbers, titles listed already in print and prices it is often possible to estimate a date of publication for a book to within a year or so. In most cases this information is an estimate of date based on these factors and should be treated as such.

Information on first editions is also an estimate based on these factors.
